Mull, Iona & Staffa

The wide sandy beaches of Mull, interspersed with glittering lochs provide a haven for wildlife. The brightly coloured houses that hug Tobermory harbour date from the late 18th century providing an indication of the importance of the sea to the history of the islanders of Mull. The west coast road provides breathtaking views of the islands dotted on the seascape, whilst Calgary Bay is perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches on Mull.

From the picturesque landscape of Mull, the island of Staffa is awe inspiring. Home to a large puffin colony, it is the inspiration for Mendelssohn's 'Hebrides Overture'. Those of a determined nature may need all the courage you can muster to land on the island and walk into Fingal's Cave via a causeway, but try it you must! The awesome forces of nature will stay with you for a long time after visiting Staffa, whilst the the small island of Iona is inspirational purely because it is the recognised birthplace of Christianity in Britain. There is an overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity on this island - this is a place which gives the opportunity for contemplation, for reflection, for digging deep into your soul to renew your self-belief.
